This ancient breed of heritage cattle is raised as nature intended. Angus beef is a Scottish breed dating back to the 1600s. This particular beef comes from a red Angus beef, harvested at 27 months of maturity. Because the longer an animal lives, the more the flavors develop, Farmer Schmidt expects this to be "really great beef."
Lyle Schmidt retired and moved from Cincinnati back to his childhood home, a dairy farm near Three Rivers, MI. There, he converted his late parents' dairy farm into a 100% grass-fed, GMO-Free heritage Scottish beef farm. He raises the world's oldest beef breeds. Their cattle are lovingly raised on managed rotational grazing pastures. Grass-fed with organically grown, non-GMO hay and silage all grown on the family farm. Sustainable farming methods are used throughout the operation. In addition to access to abundant feed, the cattle have access to fresh spring water and to woodlands where the trees provide much sought after scratching posts as well as protection from the hot summer sun and winter's cold winds.
